Teitelbaum (sociology, Univ. of Montreal) offers a theoretical, experimental inquiry into the past, present, and future of community forestry across the country. Contributions from over 20 scholars consider community forestry in the context of "policy and practice" on both "a macro and a micro scale." The book is organized into three sections. The first expands the literature on community forestry in Canada to offer distinct representations for each region of the country. The second section uses case studies to examine the real results of community forestry and the links between principle and practice. The third section considers the future opportunities and challenges community forestry faces. Though this work will be most relevant to readers in Canada or those with a specific focus in Canadian studies, it will also be a strong resource for individuals interested in forest governance and/or community-based resource management. Summing Up: Recommended. Upper-division undergraduates and above; faculty and professionals.
