Summary: Tells the story of Alexandra Morton, who came to the Broughton Archipelago, off the mid-coast of British Columbia, to study its ecology. In trying to find out why the once-healthy whale population had been driven away, she discovered the effect of salmon farming in the area on the wild salmon - in particular the transmission of sea lice from farmed to wild salmon. The depletion of the wild salmon population has meant that the Orcas are not returning, and other animals are starving. Alexandra continues to collect data on wild salmon, work for the return of the whales, and participate as an activist in the attempt to get government to respond to the situation.
