Looking for our past : a Kutenai archaeological site

Summary: In this two-part video, archaeologist Wayne Choquette and his Kootenay Indians assistant Alan Hunter explore the Wild Horse River Site, DjPv14. Presents dig techniques, artifacts, and interpretation of finds. Demonstrates hypothesis testing by presence of chert flakes at site and same chert being present at Top of the World Provincial Park where the ancient Kutenai Indians mined the chert, gathered roots and berries and hunted in the summer. Discusses the importance of the project to current band members who are assisting with the excavation.
